This is my Grandfather, David KAHANA. The photo is lousy, it is a photocopy from the U.S. Civil Service Commission. I requested information about his days as a Merchant Marine, and this photo was among the papers. Posted by Hello
David was born 26 February 1888, Ka'u District on the Island of Hawai'i, Kingdom of Hawai'i.
His parents were Lakalu (Lakali) and Kalauia (Kalaua), both of which were also born in the Kingdom of Hawai'i.
David attended the Third Public School of Hawai'i and Hilea Public School. According to the papers I received from the Civil Service Commission, Grandpop Dave did not get much past an Elementary School education.
He entered the US through the Port of Philadelphia on 23 August 1910 and remained here until his death.
Grandpop had three wives and a total of 14 children:

Grandpop Dave died 31 December 1952 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon Delaware County, Pennsylvania
